Complete Reconstruction of 95th St. S. from two lanes with open ditches to 5-lane urban parkway as identifi ed in the WAMPO South Area Transportation Study (including dedicated left turn lane) with curb & gutter, SWS, improved drainage, and a bike path and sidewalks.
The WAMPO South Area Transportation Study (SATS) recommends improvement of 95th Street at this location to a parkway to provide connectivity between Wichita, Derby and other communities. The connection also provides for improved freight movement and access to employment. The project connects Rock Road to K-15 both of which are on the regional freight network. It includes landscaping and art equal to less than 2% of the project cost.
The corridor is shown as a major arterial in the thoroughfare plan in the City’s adopted comprehensive plan (last page section 7). Reference to the SATS is made but the SATS was incomplete at the time the comprehensive plan was adopted.
